“This session is important to me because it’s how I envisioned nursing my children before I even had them! It’s a dream becoming a reality.”

Those are the words that came into my email from Chelsey when she contacted me about a breastfeeding photo session. I knew immediately this was going to be a pretty amazing session. You see, when Chelsey sent that email she was still pregnant, and yet, she already had the vision in her head of how her children were going to bond through breastfeeding. And like all good stories should have, this one has a happy ending. She’s rocking tandem breastfeeding and big brother adores his little sister (and so far is very happy to share). It really is a pretty amazing love to see.

I know breastfeeding sessions can feel like a splurge. It’s often a short period of time and there’s some hesitancy if you really want that time in your life documented. But here’s the thing. It’s not just about the breastfeeding. Yes, that’s a part of it. But it’s so much more. It’s about the journey. All the hard work, the sleepless nights, the crying (from all parties involved), the struggles & the triumphs, the perseverance, the nourishment and the re-connection of 2 (or 3) bodies back to 1. It’s about documenting the dream becoming a reality.
