A dream doesn’t become reality through magic;
it takes sweat, determination and hard work.
~ Colin Powell
In the back of my brain I have a photography bucket list. Some things are total pie-in-the-sky dreams (that I still hope come true!), and some are goals that I know I can achieve if I put my mind to it and work my butt off. Stay tuned as you might just see some casting calls in the coming year for some bucket list items that are making their way to the top of the list. This past year though, the list has revolved much more around writing and business than it has around actual shooting.
Although you can always tune in here to read my ramblings and see my latest images, I’ve also been writing for and featured on several other blogs this past year.
And then in May one of my big goals – writing for the Clickin Moms blog – was achieved when an article I wrote was published.
One of my favourite spaces in our house is our big bay window in our family room. The kids like to play on the window ledge and I am pretty much in love with the late afternoon light that it lets flood into our house. 8 creative ways to use window light explores the various different ways to use one window for different looks and moods.
If you’ve been following along with my work for any amount of time, then I’m sure you’ve heard me talk about personal projects. Personal projects fuel me. They keep me creative, on my toes, and push me to continually be a better photographer. My personal projects make me a better photographer for my clients. I gathered up much of what I’ve learned through personal projects and poured it into an article for Click It Up a Notch titled Using Photography Projects to Enhance Client Work.
‘Cover image’ has been on the bucket list for a while and I was over the moon when that one came to fruition. Yes, that’s me showing off the Summer 2015 issue of Birth Issues with one of my images on the cover. I may or may not have stalked a few local stores waiting for this issue to hit the stands.
I also continue to contribute personal stories on The Stories We Tell, the latest one showing my girlies running (or crawling!) through the sprinkler and soaking in one of the last hot days of summer.
You can also catch some of recent images on the CMpro Daily Project. If you are looking for some serious photography inspiration, go check out the Daily Project. The work that is posted there every single day is absolutely amazing.
Thank you to all of you who have reached out, shared and commented on articles that I’ve written. Please know that I read each and every comment and truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Here’s the checking more things off the photography bucket list in the year to come!
