I can’t believe that a month has passed and that it’s time already for another ‘Motherhood Is‘ post. I seriously feel like time is flying by so fast that I can’t possibly keep up. Willa is already 7 weeks old and I am trying so hard to remember these newborn days and all the little things that she is doing, because before I know it they will be gone. I remember some days with my oldest, when it was only me and a baby, that the hours would drag by. I’d wait for my husband to get home from work and couldn’t believe when I’d look at the clock and it had only been 15 minutes but felt like 2 hours. But this time around it’s completely different – add a toddler to the mix and now I feel like that clock must be skipping hours without me knowing it. The crazy days with constant playing, singing, dancing and general running around have made me truly appreciate the calm that comes in the middle of the night. I love the sound of happy kids in the house, but I’ve come to also really like those night feedings when the whole house is settled and quiet and it’s just Willa, me, and a small light. It’s time to reconnect – to think about the day past and the day ahead. It’s our time to be Mom and baby and just hear each other breathe.
