We were standing there. It was a tiny little alcove in their attic and the light was streaming through the window in the most amazingly beautiful way. Giggles had erupted just moments before when the shower had been secretly turned on by mischievous little hands. Water rained down, spraying out of the tub and onto the floor. The giggles just about drowned out our shrieks as it happened.  A minute later the shower had been turned off and the kids quieted.  It was then that she turned to me and told me how she wasn’t sure how long all 3 of them would be willing to take a bath together. How she was so happy to be able to capture this memory.  The memory of 3 wriggly little bodies crammed into one deep tub, with a slippery bar of soap and endless splashing providing all the entertainment.

Although that moment in the attic will forever stick in my brain, there was so much more to this session.  We hung out for 4 hours on a September fall afternoon in Red Deer. 4 hours where they were just them. There was a really loud leaf blower (just check out the slideshow below if you don’t believe me!), ladybugs, leaves shoved down pants, completely uninhibited finger painting, dress-up with sweaters from when Mom was a kid, more pickles than I’ve ever seen in one place (my kids would be jealous!), delicious salmon and  a walk down to the Red Deer River Valley.
