There will never be a more perfect time to honour your imperfect life than now.
It’s true. The timing will never feel perfect for a family photo session. That reno won’t be done, your kiddo will be going through a phase of not napping, you want to lose 5 pounds, your house is too small. I’ve heard it all – and I understand. I’ve been there myself and the feelings can be overwhelming. But here’s the thing….the timing will never be perfect. The stars so rarely align, and before you know it, your toddler will be in school or your tween will be moving out. It’s much like having kids. Did the timing feel perfect? No, probably not. But did it all work out? I’m guessing so. If I’d waited to have kids until we had enough money, had the house fully painted and had done all the travelling we wanted to do, we’d for sure still be childless – and I wouldn’t be as happy (but my house would be tidier!).
Family story sessions are a chance to document your life as it is right now. To ensure that when they look back, they will say, “I remember the feel of that sweater my Mom’s wearing, how it smelled, and how it always felt like a warm blanket when she hugged me.” And though you all might remember what it felt like, will you remember what it looked like?
Your life is complicated enough, your photo session shouldn’t be. A session can be as relaxed or as detailed as fits your family.
So, with that said, here are a few ideas to get your wheels turning for what your Family Story session could look like.
Let’s chat about your family’s story. We’ll talk about your likes, dislikes and things in-between to find an activity that will fit your life perfectly.
